Layer Manager Window
The Layer Manager is used to create and manage the multiple layers you can use in BannedStory. Everything you create in BannedStory must be inside a layer.

To create a new layer, click on the button at the bottom named "Add new layer...". A list with all the available layer types will appear. After you click on one, the layer you choose is created.
When you create a new layer, it will be positioned in the place of the current selected layer, moving any subsequent layers down. To move a layer, select it and then move it with the up and down arrows at the bottom of the Layer manager. Layers can now be renamed, just double click the layer you want to rename, and its name will became editable.
Editable Layers
Editable layers are the ones where you place the character, pet, skill or mob. Every time you want to add a new item into an editable layer, you must first select its corresponding layer. Editable layers can be distinguished by the following colors:
After adding any item in a editable layer you will see the following icons in the layer:
The eye is used to show or hide the layer. The plus icon is used to show or hide all the items contained in a layer. This icon will only appear in editable layers. The window button that appears above the plus button is used to show or hide the animation control window of that layer.
When you press the plus icon, you will see all the items of that layer. Each sub-item has a thumbnail, a brief description of it, a visibility icon (works just as the one of the layer, but for individual items), a trash can icon to delete the item, and a color filter icon used to modify the color of the item.
Animation Window
You can view the animation window of each editable layer by clicking the window icon above the plus icon in each editable layer.

At the title of each animation window appears the name of the editable layer it belongs. This window will only be enabled after you add items into its corresponding layer. You can have open any number of animation windows as you want, but they will be removed if you remove its corresponding layer.
Other Layers
The other layers that can be created are the picture layer and the color layer. These layers are represented in the layer manager by a gray color.
Each of these layers have only one option. In the color layer, you will see a colored button. When you press this button, the color selector will appear. In BannedStory 3.0, you can have as many color layers as you want.
The picture layer is used to load pictures from your computer. Press the folder icon to search for any image in your computer.
Layer Manager Controls
These controls are located just above the layer creation section in the layer manager.
Not all these controls work with all layer types. Some of them are only available for the editable layers. To use any of these controls, you must first select the layer at which you want to use the desired control.
Starting from left to right, the layer manager controls are as follows: the explode icon, the color filter icon, the raster icon (previously known as the snapshot icon) and the delete icon.
The explode icon lets you create a raster layer (or a snapshot) for each part of the selected editable layer. Each of these new raster layers is aligned as in the original image, but each one is totally independent from the others.

Exploding a layer will not delete the original layer, all the new raster layers will be on top of the editable layer from which they came up.
The color filter icon works the same way as the color filter icon for the individual items, but it will affect the whole editable layer and all its animation states. To remove a color filter from a layer, just apply the default values of the color filter window.
The raster icon (previously known as snapshot layer) creates a flat representation of the selected layer. A raster layer cannot be edited again.
The delete icon deletes the selected layer. A faster way to delete a layer is using the DELETE key from your keyboard.
